Where the name comes from

“The Spark lives within all of us. It's the source of our joy, creativity, and the free inner child that's always ready to play.” Sparkpick is a discovery hub for vintage, upcycled, and pre-loved fashion — curated by stylists who source and sell the pieces themselves.

Positioning in one line

Discover distinctive personal style through vintage, upcycled, and pre-loved fashion — curation already done, by someone who actually sells the pieces.

The Spark Mascot

A little punk with a big heart

The Spark is the brand's free inner child made visible — a green teddy with a lime faux-hawk, a half-lidded wink, a red cape, and a hand-stitched dashed outline that literally reads “remade.” It carries the whole idea: joy, rebellion, and loving the planet without lecturing about it.

Color

Canvas, Acid Lime, Punk Black

Three colours do almost all the work. Canvas is the ground, black is the ink, and Acid Lime is the only signal. Click any colour to copy its hex.

Primary

Balance: mostly Canvas and black, lime under a tenth of any screen, accents a sliver.

Neutrals

Accents

For content only: stickers, illustration, pins, newsletter headers. Buttons and links stay lime or black. Use one family at a time.

Typography

Avenir, everything

One family, four jobs. Heavy Avenir for display, medium for section heads with a hair of negative tracking, semibold caps for labels, and book weight for reading. The signature move: a headline that's half white, half lime italic.

Voice & Tone

A stylist friend who already did the scouring

Warm, specific, confident without being showy. Lead with the detail that makes a piece interesting — the era, the fabric, the story — never with a sustainability lecture.

“The Edit” newsletter

This week's Edit has a 1960s mod dress that stopped us mid-scroll, a vest made from deadstock military canvas, and one styling trick that'll change how you think about your winter boots. Let's get into it.

Blog intro

There are roughly 4.2 million vintage clothing listings on Etsy right now. That's not a discovery experience — that's a haystack. We spend 10+ hours a week in that haystack so you don't have to.

Designing for Joanna

One person, one line: what the clothes must do. Every colour, word and layout decision on Sparkpick answers to her.

What the clothes must do

Be the only one in the room, carry a story she can tell, and still work on a Tuesday.

“I don't shop for eco fashion. I shop for pieces that look like me.”

How she buys

Vintage and pre-loved first · buys the piece, not the cause · trusts a 5.0★ seller over a brand name

Her story

Joanna produces campaigns at a tech company in San Francisco. At work she's the one pitching the idea nobody else would, and she wants her wardrobe to do the same: pieces nobody else has. She's down-to-earth and kind, close to her family and her community, in a relationship, with a full social calendar. She cares about the planet, but it isn't her identity.

She owns 300+ garments and still feels she has nothing to wear, because most of it looks like everyone else's. She loves colour, thrifting, mixing and matching, and an upcycled one-off, but she doesn't have a free Saturday to dig for them.

“It shouldn't be this hard to dress like myself.”
Wants

Distinctive personal style. Saved time. Confidence in her choices. Pieces with a story she can tell.

Frustration

Mainstream fashion all looks the same. Searching Poshmark and forty Etsy shops is hours of work for one good find.

Aspires to

The outfit that gets a “where did you find that?”, never an “I have that too.”

Attitude to fashion

Quality over quantity. Experiments, but anchored in classics. Vintage and pre-loved are her first stop, not a side project.

How she feels now

Generic in her everyday wardrobe. Her closet doesn't reflect her actual taste, and that bugs her.

Where she finds us

Pinterest first, then The Edit newsletter, Instagram, and our Poshmark closet.

With and without Sparkpick

✓ With

A distinctive, considered wardrobe. Half an hour a week saved. Compliments that start with “where did you find that?”

✕ Without

Keeps blending in. Loses Saturdays to scrolling. Buys fast fashion she throws out. Feels stuck.

What this means for design

Lead with the piece.Era, fabric, story first. Never open with a sustainability badge.
Do the scouring for her.Look boards and Shop Picks are finished edits, not search results.
Show the proof.5.0★ rating and the Poshmark link sit where she decides, not in the footer.
Let colour speak.Black and Canvas stay quiet so the clothes and the lime carry the energy.

Joanna's moodboard

Figure in a navy blazer, tie and pleated skirt over trousers, mid-step against a saturated orange backdrop Hand-painted olive felt hat with white florals, worn with a hand-drawn white shirt and stacked bracelets Collage: golden-hour fields, friends, family, handwritten notes, acid-lime graphics, flowers in boots, a fashion activism poster
Saturated colour, tailoring worn her own way, hand-painted one-offs · and underneath it, warm light and the people she loves

How she changed

Joanna, 2020

Wanted to save the planet and wear unique clothes. We built eco-brand lookbooks for her. The market never clicked.

Joanna, now

Shops for self-expression: colour, thrifting, mix-and-match, upcycling. She showed up when we started selling vintage on Poshmark.
